A Charles I silver Halfcrown, of full weight, struck at Tower Mint (London) in 1639-40, bearing mint mark 'Triangle.' This visually appealing example is near choice for this issue, being on a regular flan which has avoided any of the perennial clipping. The strike is as good as can be hoped for, particularly on the reverse, but generally reflected throughout. The patina found on this coin is superb, lending it fantastic eye appeal. Of note is that this piece bears abbreviated titles on the obverse, not generally associated with this mint / mintmark, likely indicating that it is a transitional piece - a rare variety which was even missing from the Brooker collection.
