On the 27th September 1825, a revolutionary journey changed the way the world travelled. Locomotion No.1 hauled the first train on the Stockton and Darlington Railway, the first locomotive to haul a passenger train on a public railway.
This special coin cover encapsulates the new Royal Mint £2 coin celebrating the event in uncirculated condition. The cover bears the 2025 Royal Mail miniature sheet that features Locomotion No.1 and the historic journey and is cancelled with a Newcastle postmark for the location of the journey. The cover is enhanced with the 1980 150th Anniversary of Liverpool and Manchester Railway issue that features The Rocket. A superb cover. Issues in a hand numbered limited edition of just 50.
