On the 27th September 1825, a revolutionary journey changed the way the world travelled. Locomotion No.1 hauled the first train on the Stockton and Darlington Railway, the first locomotive to haul a passenger train on a public railway.
Such a momentous event deserves a significant celebration and our prestigious sovereign cover does that. It contains a 2025 gold sovereign flanked by images of Locomotion No.1 and Evening Star.
