Royal Mail celebrates Queen Victoria - Britain's longest reigning monarch of the 19th century. During her reign some of the most iconic stamps ever were issued; this set of eight 1st Class stamps features images of: Penny Black, 1840; Twopenny Blue, 1841; 6d embossed, 1854; 4d first letterpress, 1855; 1s small letters, 1862; Penny Red, 1864; Penny Lilac, 1881 and 4d Jubilee, 1887. A special feature of this set is the inclusion of a watermark image on the back of each stamp, with each watermark corresponding to the era of the stamp.
The Gold 500 cover image is framed by a 22ct gold-blocked border and the cover bears a London EC1A handstamp. The cover additionally features a 1d Lilac stamp, first issued in 1881. Numbered limited edition of 500.
