The Royal Society was established 350 years ago in 1660 and is the oldest surviving scientific body in the world. The BLCS5000 cover features the great English scientist and mathematician Sir Isaac Newton, whose laws of motion revolutionised the physical sciences. It bears the se-tenant block of all ten stamps with a pictorial Cambridge handstamp - where Newton was a Fellow of Trinity College.
